What's a Rant?

When I visited schools and interacted with students either mentoring for math competitions, career fair presenter, or science fair judge, I would sometime have a discussion point of a life lesson to make with students. I would call these times "rants" as they would be given and then questions and interaction was taken. Rants sometimes included newspaper articles of interest ("Stand and Deliver" was a standard annual rant of mine to promote striving for greatness) or student behavior to adjust (e.g. teamwork and communication skills).
